Is your new copper washer the correct size? 16mmx22mm for an H filter canister.

Well, I'd first like to thank all the responders too my post regarding the problematic Hfilter canister leak. To the poster who asked, "What is an Hfilter"? Hfilter is one of three common brands of 356 engine oil canisters, the other two being Mann and Fram. The Hfilter copper crush washer under the top bolt is specific sized to that brand. And speaking of, since that is where the massive leak occurs, it soon became apparent upon disassembly that the crush washer was being oddly deformed when the bolt was tightened. So, following your suggestions I inserted another Mahle OX 79 filter. Only this time I used a correct sized rubber washer under the top bolt. But...upon starting to see if this remedy would suffice, the motor would crank but not start. A NEW problem!
It seemed gas was not getting to the carbs. So, I pulled both lines off the fuel pump and no gas flowed/leaked. The petcock however was nice and wet. So, furthering my nuisance level factor, I respectfully ask the following:
1) Should gas be freely flowing from the line to the fuel pump when the line is disconnected? In other words, does it rely on suction from the pump to "pull" the fuel or should it drain freely from the tank?
2) If the gas should be flowing, it would seem there is a blockage in the petcock. Is there a way to determine if the petcock is blocked?
3) Is there a way to partially disassemble the petcock to clean/clear the blockage?
4) Can the petcock be rebuilt without removing it completely?
The logical question< Is there gas in the tank? About two inches. Switched to reserve, still no flow.
Thanks again everybody...If things don't get better with this there may be a '61 B added to the classifieds soon.

Learn something new every day. Hfilters are mentioned in Web Article 230 in the Technical Library.

Just discovered how to post a link to a library article. You can't copy and past the actual http address of the article. Highlight the link and right click. Then click on "Copy link address", then paste.

This has morphed into a new subject. Maybe consider having a moderator split them?
