Good items to keep on board. I've got a small suitcase of spare parts in the trunk with a smaller one full of tools. I've also got some parts stashed in the passenger side footwell. My list of parts (which is in the suitcase) and tools. Maybe this needs to be a dedicated sticky so others can consider what parts to carry.

PARTS
Generator pulley halves and pulley nut
Fuel hose and various clamps
Generator brushes and a tool to help install them
Electrical wire; red and brown
Bailing wire
Electrical tape
022 distributor ready to install
Points and condensers
Turn signal flashers
Clutch cables (2)
Steering coupler
Spark plug and coil wires
Spark plugs
Shift coupler
Accelerator rod coupler
Accelerator rod rear of the tunnel
Various fuses and bulbs
Horn cuff
Coil
Fuel filter
Lug nuts
Valve cover gaskets
Rimflex exhaust gaskets
Carb parts: springs, rebuild kit, accelerator rods and ends
Oil lines, in and out
Fuel pump and rebuild kit
Voltage regulator
Fan belts
Brake light switch
Probably more I've forgotten about.
I haven't packed a generator or starter. I can always bump start the car. Replacing the generator would require more tools like an impact wrench.

TOOLS
Wrenches
Sockets with ratchets, extensions, etc.
Screwdrivers
Feeler gauges
Small hammer
Generator wrench
Hand cleaner
Shop towels
Trouble light
And more...

Mike: I read your list! You forgot the SISSOR JACK and the board to put under it so it does not sink into the earth or tip over! Before a trip I would take an afternoon to make sure everything was the way it should be before I started.
I have watched Members car come into events and the owner would con someone into trying to perform a miracle so they could drive the car home!
Only once do I remember doing this and it was for Ray Knight. al

Right! I forgot my scissor jack! It's stowed in the battery box.

POST #4 Mike Wilson! Why would you use a CHEAP ALUMINUM 944 jack when a steel $25. jack has a larger foot on the ground. So it will not bend.
When individuals wanted a 944 JACK we sold them one. They soon came off the market when we witnessed bending on the arms.
Be sure you carry a plywood 1/2 inch thick board to keep the jack from sinking into the ground or tipping over. al

Good points, Al. I figure the jack was good enough for a much heavier car and certainly better than the factory jack for the 356. I have a hockey puck for the top point. Fortunately, I've never had an occasion to use it. I also carry a can of Flat Fix, a cell phone and a AAA card!

I always carry a piece of 2x4 to roll the flat tire onto to give more space to get a jack under the car, especially the rear.

Good idea, Martin. That would help.

Or buy a Citro├źn. Some models could raise up and lift one wheel off the ground. And, before you-know-who chimes in, I know that might be unsafe, but I still like the idea.

My serious travel kit for the water cooled car is a 1944 WW2 tool box that the USA was going to ship to Russia. But the war ended suddenly. It is heavy when it is full. al
