Yes Nice color may not have been available for a ‘58 will need to check but it is a Porsche color.
What color carpets are correct?

What a beauty on BAT and good money to!
I noticed oatmeal carpet with the Stone Grey and red interior.
Anyone confirm that my oatmeal carpet with black interior would also be presentable and acceptable with Stone Grey color?
Also I have heard Porschefiles say paint it original color, or if not original at least paint it a Porsche color.
In this context are they implying paint it a color from the year the model 356 was made, or any Porsche color from other 356 years?
Just trying to understand and stay in the correct lane.

My friend had a '58 or '59 coupe (can't recall) painted stone gray with green interior and oatmeal carpet. It was beautiful. Ss far as paint, a lot of us think that painting your car a color that was available for that year is o.k.

Steve, if you care, there are two "correct" colors for any 356. One is the color it left the factory with. The other is any color you like. For a small fee the factory would paint to match to your sample and/or carpet to match your sample.
As far as chroming old parts go, Victor Miles makes them look better than new. And if you don't mind writing checks for several thousands of $$ that is the simple way to go. However, there are excellent reproductions of some parts, door handles, and receivers, from Stoddard for example, available at a fraction of the cost of having Victor Miles fill the rotten holes so that the original rotten stuff can be re-plated. Check around and see which repros are good before sending stuff off to Victor.

Hard to tell from the photo, but I think that car looks darker, more like Turkish Red. I recall Polyantha has less black added, somewhere between Ruby and Turkish??

Aware of the reproduction door handles thanks.
Likely will get a complete set. Wonder if they come built out or not. Not crazy about another key however.
Still leaning on going with original Ruby red color.
The next several weeks will be epic stripping parts, sanding etc.

Hi all,
This week has been productive. A lot of parts stripping, bagging and tagging.
Friend of mine came by today to remove the hood and doors, ID the gauges and their wires.
84832 continues to share it discovery and history with me and it has cooperated nicely with me so far.
A lot of old parts to clean and lube etc. Big panels and bumpers to stripper he will also prime them.
Next I start stripping and sanding off for different colors.
Will continue to do updates accordingly.

Hopefully you pulled the hinge pins and didn’t disturb the door hinge bolts, thereby saving many hours of adjustment.

So many cars have had the doors sanded while off the car and wind up with a slightly perceptible bowing, with the edges recessed relative to the centers of the doors.

Sanded by hand you speak of ?
Going for media blast but not blasted on interior of doors.
Sure the body shop will massage by skim coat, sanding etc.
