Lancaster County PA Porsche 356 Drive June 2 & 3

I have put together an informal 356 weekend in the PA Amish country and you are invited. The area has wonderful roads and we will be touring some of the nearly 30 covered bridges in the county. Amish farms and horses and buggies are part of the Pennsylvania Dutch atmosphere. We are staying in Strasburg PA which is the home of the Strasburg Railroad and museum. There are many other attractions in the area that can be found via Google search. No entry fee, pay your way as you go.

I have blocked rooms at 2 hotels in Strasburg PA, the Holiday Inn and the Clarion Inn. They share a parking lot with a nice restaurant in between. The room rates are different and the quality of the rooms is different. If you or your partner are picky then the Holiday Inn is where you want to stay. The Clarion is fine but very basic. I inspected a room there and it seemed fine but the other hotel is more modern, nicer and they have a better breakfast. There are a couple of very good restaurants for breakfast close by though.

Lancaster County country roads, Amish farms, and covered bridges. Perfect for the 356 driver.

CJ--Thanks for planning and hosting a Mini Lancaster County PA Registry Holiday. Your effort supports the Trustees #1 theme--"We don't have enough Registry Holidays" as stated in the May/June 2023 President's Letter.

I've been lucky enough to drive on many of those roads and they are absolutely 356 perfect!

Sorry I cannot be there this year, will do my best to make it if there is a next one.

Thank you gentlemen. It is not that difficult for the members to have events. They need to be created by the members who have an idea and access to some nice driving roads. It is far more difficult and frustrating to put on an event through the Trustees due to the bureaucratic quagmire. "To ask permission is to seek denial!" Just do it yourself and keep it simple as well as not assuming the financial risk. It can be done!

Jean and I have been working on the route instructions and most of the roads are fantastic. I rode motorcycles there for decades and I am happy to see that it hasn't changed much in recent years.

This is great CJ! You’re so kind to put this together. Unfortunately I can’t make this one because of previous plans but God willing I’ll make the next one.
Have a wonderful time, if Chris makes this one please send him my regards too.
All the best,
Bill
Which one are you driving? Nice to have options Ha Ha

If the weather is forecast to be perfect I will drive the Speedster. If not, then the 59 Sunroof. Chris is coming.

Some good friends and I have put on 2 events in the Catskills and I think that will happen again. You are right between Lancaster and the Catskills so I will put you on my email list.

Other members need to put together some fun casual events too. George Bryan and his friends have done many nice events in GA that have been well attended. Thank you to those who have stepped up to do the big Holidays but not everybody wants to take on anything that complicated. Anybody can host a simple event.

Thanks for putting this on Cliff. You are setting a good example of what can be done on a local level.
