Is that a new EMPI product, or NOS and NLA henceforth?

Rod Emory went to Treuhaft and asked them to build those spindles. There is a YouTube video with Rod talking about why he had them build them. They are stronger than the original 356B spindles but fit on a stock 356.

Thank you for the U-Tube reference Michael.
I believe that the SCCA required B spindles after some point in the 1960s. However a weak point not addressed, or at least not mentioned is the C-link. Off roaders weld a reinforcement to the C-link, and I always polish and magnaflux the failure point when rebuilding. A few years ago one of our local vintage drivers had a C-link failure on his 54 356. After magnafluxing, even the A spindles shouldn't be a problem on a street car running spec tires.

Sorry, in other words, Empi owns the Treuhaft trademark.

I may be in the market as my 1964 C project came without spindle assemblies... are they the same for A/B/C cars? I was under the impression the C (disc brake) cars used a different spindle? C-links did come with the car, but I need to have them checked for alignment and maybe reinforced per Harlan's comment.

Hi Chris
they are different since they have the ears for the calipers. the axle tubes are different also. you might be able to locate all the related items in a set package but usually you will have to rebuild and source other pieces.

Thanks for confirming the spindle difference, Jacques. So are the axle tubes different diameter on the C cars then? (And therefore the connecting arms/links are specific also?) I've looked at some of the drop spindles offered from multiple VW aftermarket vendors, but A) I suspect there would be multiple adaptation issues to sort out and B) I don't want to lower the car that much. Probably best to keep an eye on eBay for used originals or reach out to Adam Wright. Unless you are aware of any new options from EMPI or others?

No real rush as I have a couple years of bodywork ahead of me before I have to worry about setting it back on its own wheels.

Hi Chris
i think most of the forum would like you to go stock. if you are going outlaw then upgrade to 911 rear suspension/transmission from a SWB 911 then go aftermarket on the front. At that point you have reached the point of diminishing return but anything is possible.

Not to highjack your thread, but plan is mild outlaw as I don't have the original motor. That said, I'm not sure I would want to add the weight of a 911 suspension/transmission, plus I have a late production 741 with the 12-bolt ring gear that is going to Vic Skirmants for rebuild/tall gearing shortly. If there were a proven upgrade option for the front end with improved spindles/hubs, maybe Wilwood brakes (that could be had for similar money) I'd be interested, but I'm also happy to rebuild a set of originals once I find them.
