Convertible D door pocket key?

#1 Post by Brett Paxton »

Hi Everyone! I know this is gonna be a long reach here but maybe someone has some Original door pocket keys hanging from a hook that they will never use. Im looking for a pair or at least one key to go with my Fathers 1958 14th speedster D. My family and I trying to hit every detail imaginable that this Porsche deserves. If anyone can help with this small part of history for this Porsche it would be greatly appreciated!

Can anybody post a photo of the key used for the lock in the door pockets?

Check eBay. There are tons of keys listed and you might find something similar.

Brett,

My folks used to have an antique store. They had an old mason jar with keys, just went through them till I found one that worked. Just check old keys...you will find one.

Search "vintage hollow barrel keys" on eBay.

Most, if not all, of the shops these days replace the original locks and keys with a lock and key that looks like the one that is sold by Hudson. I have a these locks in my 59 "Speedster" (aka Convertible D). The key looks similar to the original but will not work in an original lock. I doubt if anyone will know the difference. Here is a link to the lock and key on Hudson's website:

Thank you to everyone that responded! We wont stop looking for an original but might have to find or make something close in the mean time. Thankfully we still have the original clasps in the unlocked position!
