Custom Decals

#1 Post by Peter Silten »

I am looking for someone who can make a custom decal to fit on top of a Hickok seat belt. The decal in question goes in the depression on top of the buckle. The decal I need looks like the one in the attached photos. I contacted Carbone but struck out there. Thanks for any suggestions.

Those look like embossed thin metal. You are looking for a decal to approximate that?

Thanks Jules for the suggestion. I was thinking of contacting them.

Martin, an embossed or flat decal will work for me.

You could try using one from a keyfob or perhaps tie tack. Probably a lot cheaper than having one custom made.

Peter,

It looks like it is simply a black Porsche Crest. I can recreate it for you and have it made in cut vinyl if you'd like. Can you take measurements for me? I would only need the height of the crest from the lower tip to the top of the crest in the, then the width at the width at it's widest spot.

Let me know, I am happy to make these for you.

Artwork is ready to go, just give me measurements for cutting and I'll have them ready in a couple of days.

I will have these cut on a lighter silver backing so as to match your examples.

Same seat belts in VW's, the Wolfsburg decal went the other way.

BTW, anybody post about when these seat belts/buckles were in cars versus the other ones with the different logo ?

The seat belts shown in my earlier posts photos and the photos above were manufactured by Hickok and were sold in the early 60s. They are period-correct of the 356s and the early 911s and 912s. Hickok added different logos to the buckles. Porsche is but one example. VW had its own Hickok design. The generic Hickok logo was a gold foil fleu de lis (photo 1). I believe the Hickok seat belts with the large colored Porsche logo (photo 3) first appeared around 1967.
