If you want to be period correct, but expensive, go for the 60 mm GT front drums and ventilated backing plates front and rear. I am running this set up on a 59A with a 175 hp 4 cam motor and the brakes have no problems slowing the car.
The front GT drums and shoes etc cost about $5K. Dario Calandra in Vancouver, CA sells the backing plate scoops. You then need some time on a mill to make all the holes and then some welding to install the scoops and screens.
If the factory big brake set up is too costly then the CSp or Airkweld disk units are a great alternative.

Re: outlaw brakes
Following up on Bill's comment above, another side-benefit of the GT brakes is that they push your front wheels outboard 20mm, which when coupled with some 20mm spacers in the rear, gives the car a great stance. I dig the look of the 4.5" wheels but pushed out the extra 20mm.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
