Ignition Switch Identification help......please
Hey guys,
I have a few ignitions I am needing some help on, Ultimately I need one for my 1957 T1 Coupe but am unsure if the second switch( the one with the key) would be appropriate.
The first switch is marked 22715. Made in Germany. A circle K and has 10108 PE electrostenciled on it. Would this be for a 912 or early 911?
The second switch( the one with the key) is marked 21585, Made in Germany, and electrostenciled K103. Would this switch be correct for a T1 356?
Thank you in advance for your help.
J

Re: Ignition Switch Identification help......please
The spade terminal is early 911 / 912, the bullet terminal 100 series is for 58 to 61. The switch you want is the same as Mercedes 190 SL.

Re: Ignition Switch Identification help......please
Neither one is correct for a 57. You need one of these with screw terminals.

The "spade terminal" switch is for a US "late" (68 or 69) 912 or 911. Early (66 and 67)911s and 912s made for the US had bullet connectors

Re: Ignition Switch Identification help......please
I am not an early Porsche expert, but my stash of original wiring diagrams show a three terminal light switch through the 53 model year with those terminal numbers. 30-hot; 56-to the dip switch; 58-to the running lights. Of course, the earliest cars had the rotary switches.
In 54, the switch has a 58b for the instrument illumination with rheostat.
The 57 terminal, which is hot on the first detent only shows up in the T2 diagram, but it also has a 58b terminal.
So the three terminal switch could be a Porsche switch - it certainly has the Porsche retaining nut.
The 4 terminal switch, I am not certain but it doesn't appear to be a Porsche switch.
Also, I believe that the Euro cars and USA cars used the same switches - they did use the same wiring harness.
