T 6 356B and 356C Blaupunkt Frankfurt photos wanted
I am looking for US and Euro spec. Blaupunkt Frankfurt photos 1962-1965. The Euro. spec. ones are AM/FM/LW and the accessories catalogs say the US ones are the same -- but they aren't. The early ones are AM/FM/marine band and later ones are AM/FM/SW. I don't know when they change. I prefer factory fitted ones and it would help if you have a Kardex (CoA) that lists it. The factory ones have Porsche medium knobs for tuning. Dealer installed ones generally do as well. The attached photo is a Blaupunkt Euro spec. Köln in a 356C that is not a factory installation. The knobs are not the Porsche ones like below. Note that it has the same bands as a Frankfurt and that the FM band goes only to 104.
Those who read my column in the magazine know that I am trying to accumulate color photos of original radios and other options for eventual inclusion on the website. For the time being I am presenting them in the magazine for review and comments. Next issue will include the first radios and Luggage Part Deux.

Brett, I have some spare radios, E, T and V but none were factory-installed in my car as the Kardex doesn't list a radio as an option. Would you want pics of any of the radios I have?

Hi Mike, For radios not in cars I would like photos from the front with knobs installed accompanied by photos that show the paper label on the right side. They need to be large enough for publication.Mike Wilson wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:30 pm Brett, I have some spare radios, E, T and V but none were factory-installed in my car as the Kardex doesn't list a radio as an option. Radios for Porsche 356s -- I suggest this discussion be confined to radios (brand/type) known to be actually Factory installed in your 356.

I'm doing that in the magazine (starting in the next issue) -- just trying to get some accompanying color images and unrecorded chronological changes. There is one included from an original owner (356A cabriolet) who took factory delivery. It has a Blaupunkt Export Super 3598 AM pushbutton -- not listed in the factory accessories literature.Brad Ripley wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 4:52 pm Radios for Porsche 356s -- I suggest this discussion be confined to radios (brand/type) known to be actually Factory installed in your 356.

That is a Köln which is has signal seeking and is Euro spec. like the one in the first post. The ring on the right under the (Porsche) knob has 3 positions (with colored markings) that dictate the strength of the sensitivity for signal seeking which is activated by pushing the knob --does it work? It was the top-of-the-line Blaupunkt installed. The V code on the label is accurate for a 356C. It could have been dealer-installed or omitted from the Kardex. Then again, it isn't US spec.

Re: T 6 356B and 356C Blaupunkt Frankfurt photos wanted
Thanks Mike,
Note that the Frankfurts of this era have black pushbuttons and no rings under the tuning knobs. The older two E and T (1961-1963) have green lettering which indicate the earlier ones with vacuum tubes, where the later V code has white lettering, indicating that it is all transistor. The FM band on the later one also goes the conventional direction with ascending numbers to the right. US radios FM bands also go to 108. All three of these have the marine band instead of the LW on Euro radios.

Here are some photos of Maurizio's late 1963 factory-fitted Euro Spec. Frankfurt. The date code is a U which is correct for a late T 6 356B. Chronologically 1961-1966-ish they go E, T, U, V, W. Dealer installed ones may be a year or two older than the build date. Again black pushbuttons and no rings on a Frankfurt (as opposed to chrome pushbuttons and rings on the Köln). Lettering is green indicating a vacuum tube radio and there they are!

This is the radio in my ‘64SC. The Kardex calls out 2 loudspeakers and 1 antenna, but no radio. This was a Euro car and was in Germany until 1969.

Hey Mike,
That is not a factory installed radio (wrong knobs). Suspect it is a US spec. Köln because of the rings, but all transistor due to white lettering. Does the signal seeking work by pushing the right side button? Can you see the paper label on the right side?

Here is my contribution to the cause. European Blaupunkt. Not on Kardex.
