I believe Curt Dansby was the source for the rubber oil sump gaskets. I think he also did gaskets for the pre-a fuel filter lids.

Re: Oil Change Simple Question

Alan, and other technicians: I am unaware who was making the sump gaskets for Curt. We have tried to prototype a RUBBER GASKET to seal the sump plate oil leaks. We were unsuccessful. The cause of this failure is that too much torque is put on the nots that hold the sump in place. THE 6 MM BOLT TAKES 7 FOOT POUNDS OF TORQUE BEFORE IT STARTS DISTORTING. If the sump plate is bent AND the screen is bent this is a clear indication that the plate was installed with a 3/8 inch ratchet with a long handle. The torque settings are in the shop manual BUT you cannot get the feel of the torque if you use something larger than a 1/4 inch palm ratchet and socket. More to follow in the March Registry magazine. Zim
