I am looking for some photos for a 356A GS/GT roll bar install. I need clear photos of the floor stumps and the bar installation. I have looked through my manuals and cant find them in the Parts book or accessory sections. I know they are there, I am just to old to find them.

When I needed a GT roll bar for my Carrera I borrowed one from Barney Gardner who had an original. Then I had John Buddenbaum copy it. Except that because of the stepped diameter mounting studs which are welded into the car, the originals block the vision out of the rear-view mirror. So I had John weld 1/8" steel plates with 4 captive nuts onto the place where the original mounts were. Then John built the roll bar with longer legs which ended in plates which match the ones in the car. The bar height is such that it touches the headliner. That works because the bar is installed from the front rather than dropping it over the original studs. The carpet snugges around the bar hiding the 4 mounting bolts. Unless you know what you are looking at no one has ever noticed the change in the mounting. I told myself at the time that if I ever wanted to make the installation exactly original, I could cut the bar and make the original studs out of the bottom ends.
So I can't help you out with pictures. I can tell you that the original studs outer tubes were about 3" tall, the inner tubes extended about 1 1/2" above, capped with a shallow dome, and they were cross drilled for about an 8mm bolt.

Thanks guys. I have witness marks from the original stumps. They were cut off and gas welded over years ago. Car is in restoration now, I need to replace the longitudinal and replicate the aft B pillar sections anyway. The stumps will return.
