'63 tool bags
There is currently a '63 tool kit listed on Bring a Trailer and it has been asked if the bag is original. I'm posting pics of two bags I have for comparison. Interested people on BaT can peruse the pics as guests for comparisons.

Original factory 356 tool kits are a beautiful thing to see. The early t6 has those blond screw drivers

Re: '63 tool bags
I cleaned this toolkit for a client about 5 years ago. Original car in every way. The bag looks to be the same as on BAT. It does have an unusual lug wrench. It has a weld around the socket but never broken. I think it was a factory transition from the short socket to the long one.

Nice work, Tom. I think the lug wrench was added by a previous owner as the jack handle has the lug wrench on one end.

This is a photo of the bent lug wrenches available. upper is last version and middle is short socket. The lower one with the weld around is from a original owner car. He never changed anything. All transition stuff.

Interesting, thanks Tom. My '63 kit is like the one you posted, but the bag hasn't survived nearly as well.Tom Keating wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 6:48 pm This is a photo of the bent lug wrenches available. upper is last version and middle is short socket. The lower one with the weld around is from a original owner car. Re: '63 tool bags
Mike, I bought a NEW 1963 tool kit from Stoddard eons ago. The bag was Blue. I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but $80/90. When it arrived, I said "I've been screwed". How times have changed. ......Jim.

Re: '63 tool bags
I can imagine paying that much and then getting such a cheesy kit. Ha! Had we known, we would have bought MORE kits especially the earler ones!
All the best,

Re: '63 tool bags
Hello Tom Keating, this is Tony Aprile. I appreciate you commenting here regarding
the 1963 tool kit you cleaned for someone in the past being the same tool
kit as the one I have listed on BAT now. You have validated what I know
and I hope the person’s interested in mine will be a registry member and
will also see your matching tool kit. Thank you again. Tony
