You will see from the photo the black areas on the edge of the glass. This had a black rubber like finish that I removed. Do I just replace the glass as it is ? Or do you recommend some kind of sealer. The concern is rain working its way into the cabin.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: 356B Front Quater Window Question
It originally was pressed onto the glass with a layer of rubberized canvas or something like that for both a friction fit and water seal. Black silicone or urethane works well, I used a couple small strips of cardboard as spacers hidden in the silicone.
Some people recommend 3M Stripcaulk which is rather soft and never drys, but you could lose your glass while driving.

Re: 356B Front Quater Window Question
Exactly like Martin said. The original is a butyl rubber "glass setting tape". I have a roll of .035" x 1.5" wide tape. It is non-adhesive. Scrape any dingleberries off of the glass but leave what's left behind for better stiction. Scrape/clean the metal channel. Fold a length over the edge of the glass and use Windex or soapy water to lube the outside and press the channels onto the glass. Trim the excess with a razor. After the "lube" dries, a snug proximity fit is sufficient to keep it in place.
PM me and I can mail you a few feet if you determine it's the right thickness. You can get various thickness and widths by the foot on ebay, Amazon, etc.

Re: 356B Front Quater Window Question
I used the 3M strip caulk when I restored my car in 2015. It is pliable enough to fit the glass to the hinge pieces but dries semi-hard. The glass is held firmly in place by the caulk, the hinges and the latch assembly. No concerns about the glass falling out.

Mike, I wonder if you used a different product. I’ve probably used 20 boxes of this one over the years and it never drys at all.

Hi, Martin. That is what I use. It seems to be less pliable with age.

That’s very unusual. 3M s claims about it fit my experience.

That applies to quite a few of us.....Mike Wilson wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 2:08 pm Hi, Martin. That is what I use. It seems to be less pliable with age.

I use that welt strip also, a little heat or warm air makes it very pliable, i also use a 10" wood Jergson Clamp to squeeze the glass into the frame after warming. Not too much heat, just warm.
