Seat belts in Registry Magazine

#1 Post by Ric Kellen »

In the Registry Magazine, November/December 2022 there is an article about Harvey Kanter's very nice 356, "The Reversible Outlaw". On page 32 there is a picture of the seat belts, they are described as 'period reproduction". Does anyone know the source for these ?

We don’t post the magazine on the website until 30 days after mailing as a policy, so here is the photo to help with answers.

Similar "Vintage Racing" seat belts are available from many Vendors. I have similar belts that I got from Summit Racing. Different brands may have slightly different clasps. Sierra Madre has a Deist set including anchors for a 356 which look similar to original T6B and C/SC anchors. My 1st exposure to them was in 1985 when I bought an SC that had been modified a bit for "short track racing" by a Chicago PCA member and it had them.

+1 Doug. If you zoom in on the passenger seat you can see a sewn label with a Porsche crest, which may be an important detail to some.

None of the factory seat belts had date stamps. Some Baisch belts had them but these were switched out for Teka Belts by Porsche long before Baisch started dating them

Michael, those crested labels are modern, custom creations.

The labels are not so important, what I am looking for is the "course" texture of the webbing, it shows well in the link Doug posted about Eric's belts (above). Trying to find this in a 2" wide belt, all the "competition" belts I find are 3". A few years ago I met a guy with an OT hot rod and he had this style belt that were being made at the time by someone in the US, with various custom made labels to simulate different manufacturers. I have been trying to locate this source with no success.
Thanks for the replies gentlemen.

Or contact Crow directly and have made with the type of end that attaches to the standard seatbelt original fastener type if you have them. https://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dl ... 1~cadeikca RJS is another possibility: https://www.rjsracing.com/belts-harnesses
