Steering wheel shaft bearing
I had a quarter to a half inch space between my steering wheel and the steering hub. So, I took off the wheel and pulled the steering shaft out to get the old bearing out. Tapped in the new bearing, reattached the shaft and now the steering wheel does not completely seat. I have a good one inch space and I can’t figure out what I did to cause this problem. Any ideas??

FWIW, the old bearing can be taken out cleaned, and rebuilt. If I recall correctly, 36 of those little balls, and they do their best to make a getaway.

Correct measurements and installation order will solve your problem: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6572&hilit=steering+wheel+wobble For correct measurements Brads photo is sideway in the last link. I have it upright in this link: viewtopic.php?t=53066&hilit=steering+wheel&start=45 Comment #48. Assemble with correct measurement and all should be well.
