I'm "refreshing" the glue on the inside of the door panel of my '60B Cab. From the outside, all looked good, but inside age has taken hold a bit, and I need to reglue some of the trim. I did this on the other side, and it all worked well. However, on the driver's side, the metal piece that is used to "hang" the panel on the inside of the door is loose at each end, and a bit corroded. I intend to bead blast and repaint the metal hanger piece and reattach it, and then reglue the trim, etc.
But, it appears that the metal hanger piece is attached to the panel board with very small rivets or metal screws, half of which have pulled out of the board. Is there any reason that could not reattach the panel to the metal hanger board with small sheet metal screws? They will be covered by the door panel material and the outer metal trim when fully reinstalled.
Pictures below.
Thoughts? Thanks!

I'd attach it with pop rivets.

After you install the pop rivets, back them up with something hard and mash them flat with a hammer.

Great ideas! I've got a pop rivet gun & rivets. Just haven't used it in a while... Thanks!

Re: Inside door panel regluing
I recently rebuilt my door cards. I used 1/8 styrene as the card material and aluminum soft aircraft rivets. I put a thin washer behind the mushroom head to give it more strength. On the metal bar I created a slight depression/dimple then attached the rivets. Very little protruding on the metal bar. I could have ground them a bit but there was no clearance issues. Remember that when you rivet - the shank expands so the strength is really between the shank and the hole in the metal itself not the new peened over head. Tested it and it slides on with no issues over the door edge. For the interior “insulation” U Haul cabinet blankets are very thin and almost identical to the original fabric however I think I will use a 1/4” closed cell material for a flatter padded feel for behind the leather.
