BLUE CARPET 356 BT6

#1 Post by Rudolphe Guillois »

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a good set of carpet for a 356 BT6 from 1962. On the Porsche certificate I only have the mention: "leatherette blue". Attached is a photo of a piece of original carpet. Edges have discolored. They are blue below. Do you think it's more of a blue 107 or dark blue 318. Do you recommend someone who can provide me with a decent set of very good quality? I am located in France, no worries to buy abroad.

Regards,

Rodolphe Guillois

Also a photo found on the internet. Do you think it's similar? I find her very pretty.

I find dark blue much more aesthetically pleasing. What do you think ?

The lighter blue will be prone to getting more dirty than a dark blue. Perhaps Autos Internations ir K & H European Upholstery has kits you can purchase.

If your car has a Reutter body you might see if you can obtain a Reutter Certificate. Then you would know what was in it originally if you care about those details.

Neither of the reproduction blue carpet colors (all from Germany) match the original, nor does the weave density. Original is a much finer weave. 318 is closer to the carpet Porsche used in the early 1950s. Internal Reutter number 678 (or 3678?).

My '53 coupe has blue carpet as well. Here's a comparison between original and repro 318. Without them side-by-side, you probably can't tell the differences.
