Rear View Mirror Glass Replacement

#1 Post by Peter Silten »

Is there anyone in the Porsche community that specializes in replacing rear view mirror glass? I know that Victor Miles performs this service and I contacted him. Unfortunately, he is fully booked. Any leads will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had my local glass shop replace the glass on my Talbot Berlin mirror. They even replicated the beveled edge. Maybe a glass shop in your area can do it. Were you able to separate the stem from the mirror head?

No! It is fused together.

Sorry to hear about the stem, Peter. Maybe someone used Loctite on it.

Mike, was the beveled glass crimped in like original, or made just small enough to slip in and be glued? I’d think glass shops would not be interested in bending metal.

The glass was beveled with a plastic ring surrounding it to hold it in the metal head. To be clear, this model of the Talbot Berlin is the one shaped like the Aero or Ponto Stabil mirror. I think I have some parts I can take pics of tomorrow.
