Need a good Upholster in Northern California

#1 Post by Monte Turner »

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a good Porsche Upholster in Northern California, "Bay Area" to do my interior for my 1963 356-SC. Got any leads? I don't want to tackle this myself!

Thx -Monte

Monte, I took my car down to Autos International, in Escondido. Yes the drive down and back each way was a hassle, but I am very pleased with the quality of the job.

Maybe touch base with 356CAR to see if they have recommendations.

I have had good luck with seat recovering and other custom work at:
ABC UPHOLSTRY. Gary at 707.514.3723 The shop is in Vacaville on Union way
I had Autos Int. do my seats and make up a kit that I installed on my 356. It went smooth but takes time and one
gallon or more of contact cement.

Monte, let us know if you find a local shop you're satisfied with. I'm in the bay area and thinking I'll have my interior done next year, it would be nice to find a place that does good work closer than Escondido.

Harlan, Cook's appears to be permanently closed according to The Google.

Another option os K & H European Auto Upholstery in Garden Grove, CA. Excellent work and reasonably priced. They also sell DIY kits.

My car was done in leather by Auto's International and is pretty much faultless. They are very good at getting the correct 'crease' in the seat base upholstery.

Not sure where in Northern California you are, but I recently had Mr. Stitch in San Mateo do the headliner on my Lotus elise and it turned out very nice. No idea if he has any experience with 356s though. He's been in business for ages.
