Old carpet request?

#1 Post by Bart Elsen »

Hello All

Went to the upholsterer today to get a price quote for a complete carpet set for my 356A coupe.

He needs an original carpet set to make templates from....

Unfortunately there was no carpet in my car. when I bought this project car.

Hence my question here: Does anyone here have an OEM carpet set from a 1959 356A coupe that you want to get rid of?

This would be a great help

Grts

Just by a kit from one of our trusted vendors, comes correct for your car ready to glue in place, cheaper than buying a roll of the square weave carpet, having it cut, bound and installed. Be aware there are a few nails and screws to hold the carpet in place. Auto's international, World Upholstery, K&H, Autobahn, plus the usual parts suppliers.

Indeed, ordering a carpet kit would be the easiest...

But I got some "samples" from the mentioned suppliers and the only thing I can say is that the quality that local upholsterer company uses is much much better.

Therefore my request ....few days ago
If this is an impossible request ...im forced to order indeed the kit

I believe those suppliers make approximately original quality. What aspect of your local place’s carpet is better? I doubt if a better square weave carpet material exists.
Or don’t you want square-weave?

There are several different interior shops making carpet kits. Autos International has one grade/manufacture of carpet, K&H has a different grade, and World Upholstery has yet another grade. (Not going to say which is best. ) Have not seen samples of what Heritage, Stoddard, Sierra Madre, and others are selling. A friend just got an interior done at K&H and it is top quality carpet, so was a PreA done at Autobahn early this year.
