Pre A Speedster Rear Apron Exhaust Tip Relief

#1 Post by Dan Kalinski »

Need a new muffler for the '55 Speedster and want to make sure the new muffler will fit.

There is a relief in the rear apron that looks like it has the dimensions of about 16" long over all with the recess at about 13" long and around 1" clearance.

If the attached thread from 2014 is viewed; viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37903&hilit=pre+A+Muffler#p229268 it does look like my Speedster (80847) fits the profile for the muffler with the round tips where the muffler tips exit from the bottom of the muffler. Want to get the right parts the first time around...

Appreciate the knowledge from our members.

Since you a getting a new muffler, I thought I would mention that I believe all Speedsters got a two outlet muffler whether they had a Normal or Super motor, even with the 2-pc case motors in 1954. Coupes and cabs in '54 timeframe would get single outlet mufflers in Normals and two outlet mufflers in Supers.
