Hi guys,
Need some help - this question was asked before on the forum but no conclusive answer. Currently rebuilding a 356C Coupe with some outlaw touches - including some louvers in my (spare) T6 deck lid. The problem is I cannot seem to find a vendor that is able to do it - any recommendations?
I'm based in Northern California (SF Bay Area) - have given GT Werks a call but they have politely declined to attempt louvers on a T6 (double grill) deck lid - which I understand.... but I still want my louvers...
Any advice is welcome and appreciated
Adrian

I would contact Rod Emory. I know he is in So Cal but he loves lovers.

Many of the Hot Rod shops have louver dies, to cut flat metal, the curved deck lids add a bit of a challenge. Try. http://www.rootlieb.com Rootlieb as a starting point, they are in Turlock and make a lot of sheetmetal parts for 30-40s cars. If they can't do they will know who can locally. Also coming up is the Autumn Swap Meet in Turlock, Sunday Nov 6th, it's a pretty good sized swap with lots of Hot Rod people, vendors. Bob Monroe or Munroe Metal Fab, in Pleasant Hill, he's been around since the early 60's doing cars.

Thanks Steve - I will give Rootlieb a call. Someone off the Registry who saw this post also put me in touch with his local panel beater.
Jonathan - that is where I got my inspiration from and I know Rod Emory does the louvers for his builds in-house. Either way, I have tried contacting Rod - perhaps it was a really busy period for him but I did not hear back - I don't hold it against him, he's got a big business to run. At best I was hoping he could recommend someone else.

I’ve never considered this before, but carefully making the cuts for the louvers with a thin cutoff wheel is not difficult at all. And then a little while with a hammer and dolly will open them up. For these small louvers it wouldn’t really be that hard. (I’m a body man though)

Hi Martin,
It doesn't sounds too bad in theory but scary if you've not beaten on panels before... and I haven't but looking to learn... that being said I should probably start off with something easy - not a curved surface in a tight space...
This is what I was after - I like the look of louvers 'pushed in' but not fussy, will take what can be done.

here is a quick video on doing louvers your self. Your deck lid is a little thicker than the material he is using but the process is the same. And measure and lay them out several times. They really look bad if not aligned and equal on both sides. you need one tool for each size louver. its not the easiest thing to do but its just metal

Probably Steve Hogue can do the louvers in your deck lid.
Just Google Steve Hogue Enterprises, his shop is in Torrance Ca.
