Re: Knobs or pulls for early cars
Thank you, Adam.
My earliest car is a 58 T-2.
Did the ash tray have the same knobs?

Re: Knobs or pulls for early cars
These pull knobs and in-dash body color-painted front ash trays phased out around mid-57. The late 57 T2 brought the under dash with chrome pull handle style ash tray. Some very early ‘transition’ T2s may have had the T1 style ash tray.

Re: Knobs or pulls for early cars
This style pull was also used for pre-A glove boxes (coupes only) and ashtrays beginning with the model year 1954. The 1955 parts catalog lists knobs available in ivory, beige or grey; typically matching the steering wheel color. According to Dr. Johnson's ver. IV, a very few late 356A and all 356B and later cars had black knobs. Earlier cars used mostly Volkswagen sourced knobs and pulls - all ivory in color.
