Help ID'ing these Heads

#1 Post by J Warren »

Hey guys,

I have a set of heads that were rebuilt by a previous owner. I am gathering parts( and the nerve) to attempt my first build on an extra engine I have. The engine is a 1960 1600S and I am hoping these heads will work. From what I can gather it appears they have possibly been fly cut and were made 10th month of 1959? I would love to know what you guys see or do not see as well as what may need to be done. Also these heads had no exterior markings other than A and B. Looking forward to hearing any thoughts/advice
Thank you
J

1962 and later. Looks like they were flycut to fit the 74.5mm bore 1300 cylinders. That's what I had to do for my 1300cc race engine.
Sorry; not going to work for your purpose.

Thank you Vic,
After looking for my digital calipers, to no avail......
I measured the ID of the cylinder sealing surface and came up with approx 3.650 inch( 92.7mm) according to my trusty Helios Vernier caliper ( that I had forgotten how to read). At least they are Made in Germany. Would those dimensions be more in line with factory standard of the time?
Again I appreciate all the knowledge

That’s the o.d. of the sealing surface. What’s the i.d. of that?

Thanks Martin, Looks like the ID is approx 84mm?
Would that place it between standard bore and a big bore?
