Can one find if a 356 is still on the road in the Registry?

#1 Post by Michael R Weaver »

I have a replacement hood on my otherwise all numbers matching 356.
I'm wondering if 1467695K1 might still be on the Registry Road somewhere?

That’s a very long number. What is it?

All you need is the last 3 numbers of the chassis, and the model of 356. Tell us what you have so the question can be answered if an answer is possible.
Just like Martin said it does not appear to be a 356 number.

Thank you. Upon closer inspection, the word BEHR is above the number
indicating it was a manufactured replacement part in 1972.

That helps not at all Michael. What is the chassis number plate information and what number is stamped into the metal area in front of the fuel tank? What model of 356 and what year?
The more information you give us the more comprehensive the answers.

I just had a brain fart. Is that a license plate number? I think Behr made id plates.

I think now BEHR made replacement parts, like T-6 hoods, with an ID plate attached
indicating BEHR made it (circa 1971-2), not REUTTER, and likely a BEHR part number.

I thought they made heater parts and radiators, never heard of them making body parts.

This is rather like pulling eye teeth, ain't it?

He may have just realised that he really has a replica 356 and that is why no numbers match. Does not mean it is not an all original 356 replica.

To be fair, he did say "all numbers matching" except the hood. Alas, reticence bereaves us of a denouement.
