1000k on a single tank?

#1 Post by Neil Bardsley »

I friend has written some code for this cool project

Got me wondering if with a GT tank anyone could get 1000k off a single tank in a 356. Seems just beyond what is possible?

With a 80 liter GT tank you would only have to achieve 35.32 UK mpg or 29.40 US mpg to drive 1000km (621.371 miles).
More than achievable in the right conditions.

The 912E as stock with stock fuel tank has 600 mile range. No big deal to get 1000 kilometers surely.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

I had a diesel pick-up tow vehicle with a very large auxiliary fuel tank that would easily go 1000 miles. Small problem. My bladder couldn't go 1000 miles.

Ha! But it only takes 5 minutes to empty your bladder, and you can be refilling the fuel tank inside the same 5 minutes. Ok, make it 10 minutes.

My father used to tell a story to his friends back in the '50s that I never understood until I was older. "A couple's father was approaching his 50th college reunion, and he wasn't going to go. He always seem sick, used a cane, always walked bent over, always at the doctor's place, always complaining, but they finally convinced him he needed to go. The day he returned, they were stunned! He was walking erect, the cane was gone, and he looked like a million bucks! 'What happened," they asked. He replied, 'I had a great time! I got there, looked around at all the other guys, and half of them couldn't pee, and the other half couldn't stop!!'" Laughter always ensued, and I was clueless as to why... until approaching my 50th reunion!!
