Thanks Spencer , i looked hard at this area without the radio plate in and could not see anything. clean in there and seems like a logical place. I'll keep looking !Spencer Harris wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 2:14 pm August '53 cabriolet:

This is what I have on the passenger side hood hinge..James Davies wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 8:30 pm Hi Jeff, very interesting! What does the rest of the Porsche KG tag say? 356/1500?
Also, have some photos of the car itself and some of the stampings? The last 2 or 3 digits of the chassis number are all over the car. Under the dash, on the doors, hood hinge, back of door hinge cover plates, bottom of seats, rear deck lid rain cover.

That is not where it would normally be. It would not be on the hinge but on the hood itself as that is the part that later needed to be reunited with the body. Are the door panels off the doors?

Re: 1954 pre a
Thanks I took a second look at the trunk lid and on the drivers side it is clearly marked with the number 66 , now that being said ,i would not be surprised if this is a replacement part over the years? I took and hard look at lower side of the dash thru the radio hole and saw no stampings..... Thinking of removing the seat next, should it be stamped on the bottom and not in interference with the upholstery??? The doors are fully assembled, do you feel that I should remove the panels and (if so) where should I look in there.?? Thanks JeffJules Dielen wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 10:46 pm That is not where it would normally be. Re: 1954 pre a
The number on your vin plate is you engine number. The two rivets plates are on the A.s probability was put on when licenced in Cal so it would match registration number my 54 registration is still the motor number. Carry a letter from Porsche that has the vin number and the motor number never had to show it but I got it. Not sure when the vin plate was changed, so typ356/1500 is not out of line. The 23××× motor. Would make the car an early 54 just my guess.

No human error? The guy didn’t grab a 2 when he meant for a 5? (I looked to see if the 2 was an upside down 5 but it’s not)

Every number helps i would think. It is stamped on the bottom. Easy to see when it is up on a lift. You may have to wipe the grime off.
