Dennis - that looks like an interesting car in the background - I see a Zagato emblem, but don't recognize the car itself

I believe that's a Lancia Fulvia Zagatto.

What type of tubing did you use on the roof rack? I'm thinking about building one also.
By the way I love your project. I am just finishing metal work on my '63B. Not going outlaw except perhaps GT Bumper Trim and deco delete on the rockers. I'll have a green interior with Champagne Yellow exterior.

Beautiful car and color. Eye catching in a good way. I saw a new purple people eater with heavily tinted windows on the road yesterday. Have seen some puke green and gang green cars recently also. Each to their own.

I have not logged in for a while (since before the format change), but want to start by saying how much I appreciate all of the kind words and encouragement.

For Bill Cooper, I really like your color choice. I actually decided to leave the car in bare metal. I sprayed a matt clear coat over it. It shows all the warts and pimples of the metal work and I think that actually looks pretty cool. It's kind of in the spirt of the cars that raced early on where they were "worried" about the "weight" of the layers of paint. I airbrushed the ghost numbers and emblems. I really like the aesthetic and plan to keep it this way. ...besides, I never have to worry about a rock chip, dent or scratch, I can just sand it down and spray some clear.

David Patrick asked about the roof rack. - I actually purchased a roof rack that was made for a vintage VW bug. Pre-pandemic there was a gentleman on the west coast who was selling these on one of the VW sites. I cut off the legs and found a similar diameter tubing at HomeDepot. I mocked it up on the car, tacked it and then finished the welds. To the untrained eye, I think it would be hard for most to see that it was not designed for this application.

Thanks again for the encouragement and it someone out there gains inspiration from my journey, that is AWESOME and what this community is all about.

So all of the detail pictures are included in this thread. My current engine is at Carolina Coach Collection and being assembled. It is based on a type 4 block but has all modern components to make it a 2.6 l motor. It should be good for around the 180 hp range.
The sunroof, as you can see, is one of the fairly rare Golde v-shaped sunroof that were used in the type a coupes. The car has the best of everything. Custom suspension, Skirmatz transmission, all new floor and body panels, fuel safe fuel cell, leather interior with aluminum bucket seats, GT roll bar and other GT accents., Etc

I’ve gone through all the pages a couple of times and really love what you’ve done - first rate and esthetically very pleasing to the 356 outlaw aficionado.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. You are right....I am just so frustrated. I have been done all the things that "I" can do for about a year. My car is sitting in my garage collecting dust and th4 engine is taking forever. If I had known (hindsight 20/20) building this stroker motor was going to be such a nightmare, I would have just bought a prof. build turn-key motor.
