Unfortunately, one down side of the economy restarting is having to work a lot more hours/way less time in the garage. Had a productive couple of weekends though. The interior is DYI for sure, but I think it will be reasonable given the unrestored outlaw vibe of the car.

.......how many people does it take to put polycarbonate windows in a 356? Answer 5... one to hold the window and 4 to pick up the car to meet it. All kidding aside, I don't know if you have ever tried to install a plastic windshield or rear window, but it took a lot of hands. The problem was that, unlike glass which holds its shape, the plastic bent so easily, we literally needed to have guys pushing from ever angle/direction to get it in. When I tried to do it with one person, every time we got one corner to seat, the plastic would flex and and a different corner would pop out. .... what a challenge. I am fortunate that our past president, Curt Dansby, lives a couple miles away in Charlotte. He has been invaluable to me in my journey with this project, and he was "one of the 5" that, after a couple of beers, helped to wrestle these windows into place.... thank you Curt and my other car buds.

I purchased this project from a sell who said that the power plant was a rebuilt 2.6L stroker type IV. Unfortunately when we took it apart, it was a 2L stock type 4 motor with worn/crap internals. It would have probably grenaded if I had tried to start it. The block is solid and has now been machined to accept a 76mm stroke camshaft. The next hurdle is that the parts have seemed to dry up due to Covid. I still need 1x100mm big bore pistons/cylinders to compliment the 76mm cam. If anyone has these and/or know where I can find them, please let me know. Thank you.

Did you try AA Performance Products for the P&Cs?

Yes, they had the cam. The engine builder is looking for 100mm piston/cylinders, which I am learning, are not readily available right now for some reason. I can find sizes larger and smaller but not 100mm.

I built up a 78 x 100mm Type 4 for my 912 awhile back. The core engine came with a set of 100mm biral cylinders from the day. I bought the pistons/rings/wrist pins from JE. I think they are custom. Let me know if you want the PN. I used Brothers Machine for the heads. They do a lot of Type 4 work for the off road racers. Contact them, they be of help

Impressive metal work

This week I finished the headliner. It's not concourse, but at this point, after all these years, I just want to drive it.

I haven't posted any updates in a while. Got more of the interior done.

I have a friend (Ted Kaus) back in the early 90's that helped me to build my first project, a Beck Spyder. He taught me many things, one of which was how to do a string alignment. Thanks Ted where ever you are.

Will, I have been laying dead in the water for several months. I finished everything I can do in my suburban garage. The word is that the machined part of the motor has traveled from CA to NC. It looks like the car may have a heartbeat soon. After 20+ years.... I'm a tad bit excited about turning the key and pulling out of the driveway. We are in a time of appreciating simple pleasures.
