Like most of us on this forum, I am not a professional Porsche restorer. I am actually an Occupational Med. Physician. Working on this car is my passion and my therapy. For the last week my phone has been blowing up with Corvid 19 questions from contacts in industry, family, co-workers and patients. Fortunately, I have a hobby which allows me to turn off my phone, go into my garage, put on my music and bend/cut/weld/grind a piece of metal for hours it truly a blessing. I started this day with a big hole in my car and ended the day with sweat, burns, sore muscles, metal dust I ended with a sense of satisfaction and a solution that makes me happy. This was a good day.

Good job and good therapy. I like how many of our cars are restored rather well by non- professionals.

I decided to weather this mess with my elderly parent in PA. Unfortunately, the car is in NC.
In my hasty departure north, I threw as many boxes of parts into my car as I could fit. The thought being that I could assemble some of the stuff so it will be easy to install when I get home.
I had the sun visor frame pieces re-chromed and they went back together nicely.

LED boards installed in tail lights..... only bad part is I'm only one week in and running out of things to assemble. It's going to be a long couple of weeks.

Do you have the rollbar that goes on those nubs?

If not they're easy to fabricate. They have the drawback that the roll bar has to clear the headliner by the length of the drop over section of the stub. That puts it smack in the middle of the rear view mirror picture.

If you look back through this thread, you can see the roll bar in the car in several pix. This one was fabricated and it will fit snug up against the headliner (is I chose to use one). It makes it a real pain to get in/out of the car with some convincing needed with a large rubber mallet. I added the cross bar/harness tabs. It might inhibit rear vision a little, but it should be manageable. I'm going to track it occasionally and we ride in the NC mountains a lot. Unfortunately, as you know if you have been to the tail of the dragon, cars sometimes leave the road. I am adding pads around the head area and may even add head rests.... it's a work in progress.

I noticed the stumps, they look like the factory mounts, just a little tall. Been along time since I saw a set. I was hope you have the factory bar so I could get some drawings.

Well, 20 years ago, I started with two rusted heaps and now, I am starting to actually see what has been in my head all these years.

How did you attach the amber driving lights? Looks like you used the existing bumper holes. That is my plan as well but haven't come up with a bracket yet. Looking for ideas.

The old bumper holes are below near the bottom of the body and those are filled in with metal. I drilled two holes in the body and made a contoured large washer to fit the back of the light bracket so that I could adjust the angle.

Mine is one of those that also had bumper holes above next to the horn grills. Those will be the mounting points for my lights.
