356s with Golde sunroofs recorded on the Kardex prior to June 1954 (when the steel one was introduced) are as follows:

50282 3/53
50284
50361
50362
51224
51549
51680
51684 2/54
51809 4/54
51855 4/54
52081 5/54
52124 5/54

It is possible the later ones are steel. None of these cars are known to exist AFAIK. I ran a photo of the oldest known car with a steel one in the magazine couple years back -- July 1954

I didn't put the chassis number in the magazine, but the oldest known steel one is 52125 (7/2/54 sold new in Germany). You can probably imagine why I think that 52124 (5/26/54 retained by Porsche) was also steel...

Seller hasn't provided any proof though. Talk is cheap.

The C-pillar was too narrow for the landau bars -- or opera window...

That car exists today. Came from California and ended up in Belgium, restored as an outlaw.

Maybe 🤷‍♂️ it’s very peculiar that the roof is covered with the same material and that it’s a 3 fold, not the typical 2 fold, however Notchback roofs are different than Coupes. I guess with Porsche, never say never. In one of the pics a COA is shown in the background, I wonder if it mentions the sunroof or if the Kardex lists it as an option.

Thanks for posting Adam!

Wow, I just posted to the authenticity section about the 61 notch and landau style sunroof. I'd never seen one and here comes all this literature and information!! :))
Love this community and the Karmann hardtop!!

Looking at the original invoice in the pictures the only option mentioned is the tires. As such I would put my money in this being an aftermarket item

I purchased the car from the seller and am very excited to take delivery next week. The folding cloth roof is aftermarket, but appears to have been installed quite early by the coachbuilder Gebruder Tuscher. Here's a closeup of the handle and markings, along with an article I found about Tuscher:

Would love any other insight from the forum!
