Authentic Bosch horn tag for my 63 T-6 B.
A question to the authenticity experts:
I would like to restore my Bosch horns. They work perfectly but the fronts are all worn with road rash. I cannot really make out the original letters and numbers on the tag. Can any of our authenticity experts tell me what my original tag looked like? I can faintly see that the emblem on my horns has a squiggly line in about the center of the tag. Would anyone know where I might purchase an identical repo or authentic tag for my horns? Would this be the tag?

Alex-
The horn in your photo is one of mine. They had been painted over with the re-spray in 1982, and the badge was black (like the rest of Miss June).
I was able to use my fingernail and carefully remove all the paint, which had preserved the original badges.
My horns are date code 406, so later than the production of your car and I am not sure if this would be the correct badge for yours or not.
Regards horns in general though, here is the rest of the story on mine. I was able to make them very pretty, but I was not satisfied with the sound. I later removed them again and sent them to Julian for tuning. Now they are perfect!!
My recommendation to anyone: Use Julian Hardy for your horn restoration.

As far as I know there are no "exact" reproduction of both the early and later style horn badges available. I have played with the idea of making some in the past. In the end the economics did not make sense just for my personal use. If there are other out there who would like to have truly accurate badges it might be interesting to have some made.

Thanks Paul. I apologize for not giving you credit on the picture I posted. Frankly, I recall seeing it somewhere, and noticing that the tags on yours was exactly like mine on my early 63 coupe. I have been using that picture as the standard for me to find the appropraite one. I agree with you on contacting Julian and I have done so already.

I found a date code on the horn flange. I did not find any on the badge.

Re: Authentic Bosch horn tag for my 63 T-6 B.
To update this discussion, I never resolved specifically how many different tags went on the Bosch horns throughout the production of the 356. I suspect they only had a few different tags on the horns, an early and later model. I just removed my horns to have them restored and I can see they are well built units. No wonder they lasted 50 years. Mine still work great but looked trashed.
What I also found out, was that my original horns in my 63 coupe, with a production date of August 1962, had the same tag as Paul had on Miss June, a 65 C coupe with production date in 1964.
I was fortunate to obtain a set of restored horns from Julian Hardy with those tags on it. I also understand possibly why when they did make reproduction tags, they omitted a lot of the detail, since each horn has a different tag depending on whether it's the high or low tone. So for example on my horns it had a 6/15 & 6/16 tag. What I also learned was that the higher tone one, or the one with the even number tag 6/16 went on the drivers side and the lower tone horn 6/15 were on the passenger side. Hope that help put to rest, at least in part, the mystery of the Bosch horn tags. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Authentic Bosch horn tag for my 63 T-6 B.
Perhaps of authenticity interest:-
The accompanying photos, taken thru my 65C cab's horn grills, show the subtile difference between the original left and right horn badges.
They most likely identify their horn's tone and position - the high pitched left horn versus the lower pitched right horn.
(The right badge is identical to the one earlier depicted on Paul's horn.)

For 356B T-6 thru 356C horn tags, according to old Bosch documents, are:
HO/FSA 6/15 is for the right side horn with "low" tone with part number:
0 320 201 006
HO/FSA 6/16 is for the left side horn with "med" tone with part number:
0 320 201 007

As another data point, the horn tags on Miss June are the same as on Wil's car. I found another photo that had both horns in the shot and it is included below. As Brad points out, the horns (and the tags) are specific to the high and low tone. These horn tags are not restored in any way, and are originals. I simply cleaned them up.

From the feedback it appears that the pictured tag design were placed on the early B through the C models. Does anyone have a picture of what the horn tags looked like on an A?
Here is what my restored B horns looked like once Julian Hardy did his magic.

Re: Authentic Bosch horn tag for my 63 T-6 B.
In all fairness, and in the spirit of full disclosure, my initial post was placed on the Authenticity Forum so it should be noted that my Bosch horns have the authentic tags, but they are a power coated black. They have bit more sheen than the originals painted horns.
The originals were more of a flat black. I prefer black powder coat as they will wear better on my car, and I suspect will hold up much better on any road condition.

Re: Authentic Bosch horn tag for my 63 T-6 B.
Hi all,
The correct position of the horns; should the slots be vertical straight up and down?
My '58 Speedster are at an angle a bit crooked.
Also can anyone please confirm what the correct Stoddard replacement badge would be?
I was told for Speedsters they are different. Mine are toasty hard to read.
Thank you,
Steve

I've seen the horn grills at an angle, not straight up and down.
