Bridgestone Potenza RE960A/S Tires
Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this tire, specifically in a 195x65x15 size on a 5.5" wide wheel? How does it compare with other brands, etc. as it is rated as an ultra high performance all season tire with a 400 AA A rating, so would be a fairly "sticky" tire with good wet and dry traction. Seems like a pretty good buy right now at $91.50 mounted and balanced.

The car has been running for a month now and I can say the tires offer excellent handling. The rubber is on the softer side with a AA traction rating. The ride also seems good. The car corners superbly with 1.5* negative camber at all 4 wheels and the 19mm front sway bar and Konis set on the soft setting.

Cliff I know this is and old post, but how did you get 1.5* negative camber in the front? Special king pin bushing? Thanks Mike

That’s by special link pin bushings and refacing the C link at an angle.

You and I know that those tires are still the best rubber that has ever been on our 356. Dang, I sure with they still made them

My set is about aged out but still stuck to the road nicely this afternoon.

HI martin
My A coupe has Perelli Conturato tires bought in the 70's making them approximatrly 45 years old. They show no sidewall cracks at all and have fewer than a cuple thousand miles. Should I be concerned about them?

Re: Bridgestone Potenza RE960A/S Tires
I threw away a perfect set of Michelin X tires that had barely lost the mold tips, in fact the spare had never been run but they were 20 years old and the rubber had no compliance. A tire made of soft wood would have had more compliance and a better durometer level. It's not about the cracking it's about the braking ability more than anything else.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Basically yes. I’d personally be quite comfortable using them gently at below 45 mph. As far as having decent traction and not having blowouts there is nothing trustworthy about them unfortunately.

Re: Bridgestone Potenza RE960A/S Tires
I have my 2nd set of the Bridgestone RE960 Pole Position A/S (195/65x15) on my Roadster (5.5" wheels) and absolutely love these tires. I, too, have 1+ degrees neg. camber on the front, and 1.5º on the rear. Handling is extraordinary.
