Canada/ Vancouver

#1 Post by Helge Tielker »

Guys,
I know it is an USA based club, but you never know.....
we are visiting Vancouver from August 11th until approx. Sept. 2nd, anything going on there Porsche or Porsche 356 related?
Any Canadian / Vancouver Club members here in the forum. Looking for a 911 3.2 white no spoiler, sunroof & airco .. if there is an opportunity ;)

We bought our son's 356 C in Canada ... "Balou" from Bali blue ;) and he will go the university in Vancouver City from Sept. 6th.
Any tips, thoughts about what to do in Vancouver city, Vancouver islands or nearby is highly appreciated.
Any leads for a student home nearby Kwantlen Polytechnic in Surrey will also be appreciated.

cheers from Rotterdam
Helge

Coachwerks Restoration in Vancouver is 3 hours north. Eric Cherneff works there. Might be worth a visit. www.coachwerks.com

Helge, visiting Vancouver Island is certainly worth a day or two. Take the ferry across to Nanaimo and then head south to Victoria. It's a beautiful drive and make stops in Chemainus, Cowichan Bay, and Mill Bay. Victoria is a great city to walk around, especially along the water front. Then head up to Saanich and Brentwood bay. If you have the time a drive to Tofino is absolutely worth it. The island is so large that you often forget you are actually on an island. August will be quite busy and make sure you check (on-line) the ferry for times and availability.

HI Helge,

Please feel free to get in touch if you are in Victoria (south end of Vancouver Island). I would be happy to show you around our shop, which has an ever-changing assortment of European cars, with a focus on Porsche and Mercedes (911's and 300SL'S are guaranteed, we have 356's today, but no guarantee for next month!).

Vancouver Island is large, about 3/4 the size of the Netherlands, or slightly larger than Belgium. People are often surprised to hear Vancouver is NOT on Vancouver Island. And there is another Vancouver to the south in Washington State...
