Pre A Washer Bottle Bracket

#1 Post by Jim Wayman »

The bracket that holds the washer bottle has about 10 "studs" that appear to hold some type of buffers that keep the bottle from rattling around. Does anyone make those buffers? Can anyone supply a picture of one?

Thanks,
Jim Wayman

Most of the washer brackets are missing the rubber bumpers... below is what I have in my image collection and of my washer bracket. I can take more images of my bracket if needed. I did ping international mercantile but I did not get a reply. I would think we could match this material and simply cut these out. The thickness may be the only issue. Home depot sales both a 3/16 inch mat and a 1/4 inch mat. My original measures right at 0.200 Inches which means that the original is likely a 5mm at 0.196 inches... 3/16 is 0.187 and the 1/4 is a bit thick at 0.250. I think the 3/16 being only about 0.010inches thin is a good bet... the other issue is that the mats come in larger sizes so if you go this route I want a few scraps to do mine as well. ... :>)

One last note the hollow rivets are steel but are a very simple design. Let me know if you need a few rivets made up... I will trade you rivets for rubber...

I did not see this at your local Home Depot but the same product seems to be available at most hardware stores.

rubber cal has 5mm thickness in stock... I would contact them and see if they have some scraps... they might give you enough for "test and evaluation" purposes...

Thanks Rick. NOw I know it is a continuous strip and not just individual buffers.

Jim,
I would definitely try to contact Rubber cal and see if they have scraps... then encourage one of our many suppliers to make a kit available. -Rick

Hopefully this helps. This is an original in good shape.

The rubber is a foamy rubber. Quite soft.

McMaster-Carr carries a big selection of rubber materials, most available in smaller quantities
