My first boss Juergan Kirberg had a set of Carrera ! wheels on his bug these looked like stock steel wheels but the outer rim was made of a light alloy and the two parts were riviied together. Alan The Stable.

I bet those tall tires took the edge off the acceleration in your VW. I once put bus tires on a 36 Hp bug, it was unacceptable.
That was originally a 40 horse, but rebuilt it with 15% bigger P & C, Crower V20 cam, two barrel Holley Bug Spray on a SCAT manifold and an Empi extractor exhaust. Pulled very nicely, never had to downshift and dive for the right lane on Hills.

Be careful there are some Fuch look- Alight that are brittle and will shatter like glass when hit. The have a very rough texture ans not a finely smooth finish like a trure Fuch wheel is,!! Alan The Stable.

!! You can tell if you examine the quality of the casting the dangerous ones have a ver poor finish and look very rough were as the real Fuchs are smooth and and have a fine finish to them. Alan The Stable.

Speaking of non-stock wheels, did you notice the car on page 38 and 39 of the Spring 2024 issue of the 356 Club of SoCal magazine?

Everyone’s doin’ it.

Mounted them myself on our club tire machine. Now I just need to figure out how to get them balanced.

The Vred Sprint + look the biz, hope they fit under the bodywork.

I recently bought Tecnomagnesio wheels from John Wilhoit. For tires, I did Pirelli CN36 185/70s. Nate Jones in Long Beach did the tire/rim install and he does the rubber scarfing to make them perfectly round after balancing. (I highly recommend Nate Jones, Jr. to do your wheel mounting/balancing) I also purchased the longer wheel studs, 12mm spacers, and lug nuts from Wilhoit. The results were wonderful. The first image is the comparison of 165 to 185/70 CN36s.
