Supports for Fresh Air Intake Plenum Box for 356C

#1 Post by Dave Wildrick »

I just noticed that my air intake plenum box on my 1965 356C coupe is falling down.
I can't see what is supposed to hold it in place.
The foam gasket is intact and the drain hose is in place, but what holds the box up?
I temporarily wedged some paint roller sections beneath it, but this is not that secure.
I looked at the plenum at Stoddard's but I see no clips or screws or whatever for this.
Any advice is appreciated.

There should be two L brackets on either side of the box. Look for the two attachment points on either side of the box. #47

Dave,

If you cant find any originals let me know, a member made me 2 when I was restoring mine, a couple of years later I found some originals and replaced them.

They are yours for the postage.

There are 2 wire clips on each side ofthe box that are tensioned by a wing nut on the bottom. can be fabricsted using a coat hanger wire. Alan the Stable.

Alan, that would be for a 912 or early 911.

Dave you can find dimensions for making those L brackets here: viewtopic.php?t=31084&hilit=fresh+air+box&start=15 from a drawing that Bruce Baker was kind enough to send me when I was looking for them.

Thanks everyone for the assistance in helping me find these brackets.
I discovered that mine are actually still there, but one of the brackets had tilted back toward the firewall about 90 degrees and the plenum box slipped off both brackets.
I may have to find someone with very small fingers to assist in trying to get the box back in place, as you have to maneuver in a difficult position to work in this spot.

I'd suggest getting a helper to hold the box in place so you can attach the L brackets or you hold the box. There have to be members in your neck of the woods that can help. Tip: install the drain hose first.
