I remember going into lukes and Shorman's shop in emeryvile Ca and seeing the body of a 911 powered indy car they built and just miss making the show by just a couple of Mph. I bought my 901 from them it was owned by A guy who tried to supercharge the motor but never got it done The person was Arenson of the Bay area known for his turbine powered boats. His shopwas located in San Rafael, Ca. he has the record from New Orleans to St. louis By boat great story about how he had to put fuel trucks along the route to fuel his jet motors. https://flatsixes.com/porsche-motorspor ... ianapolis/

"During qualifying for the race, Bill was able to foot the car around the course at an average speed of 149 miles per hour. He tried a number of times, yet was not able to go any faster. ... The car, according to Cheesbourg, was lacking predominately in power, as he claimed he could drive with his accelerator pedal flat through all four of Indianapolis’ famous ninety-degree corners. Carrying momentum was not the problem, gaining speed on the long straights, however, was."
