Mike, if the car in the photo is 60541, which seems likely, then it is not RHD.
I agree with you James - just hoping I might get an answer from Albert?

This car was no rhd.
Thé ex Kuwait Speedster which appeared in GB long time ago as rhd but is restored in italy now. Lhd. Sure they used the vin. Fake!?
Our cab was definitely not azure ( Kardex error) but silver with a light red interior. Info Reutter.
Can provide the certificate.
Finally sure it is the pictured car.

Paul, your car came out of the US. Given that 1/3 of the cars (and probably more of the cabs) came to the USA during this period, it's a good assumption that it was a US export. Kardex would make it clear. Regardless, most Kardex from this period are pretty sparse and don't list an end buyer.
Hi James,
My Kardex says the dealer was Fa. Rossel & Traiser, Wiesbaden. I believe they were VW dealers.
I read that Wiesbaden had an airbase which was used by the Luftwaffe throughout the 2nd world war, it was then occupied by advancing American soldiers and became a military airbase after the war, I did wonder if US serviceman purchased it and shipped it back to the US on his return home. That would be a nice story…..

I was born in Wiesbaden in January 1945; couple of months in air raid shelters til the GIs came through there in March.
When I tell people I was born in Wiesbaden they ask if my father was in the military. I tell them yes, but not in the army you're assuming.
He was fighting the Russians on the Eastern front, along with other Latvians who were conscripted into the German army.

Vic’s comment contributes probably nothing to the history of the specific Kuwait Cabriolet.

However, in my opinion it contributes a great deal to a better understanding of the background of an individual owning, racing, and dealing with 356 cars for so many years. Each of our cars histories and stories are only happening through the people owning them and dealing with them. Therefore, these stories are directly linked and both parts are very interesting for me.

Thank you, Vic, for sharing a brief piece of your personal history!
