Lancaster 356 Covered Bridge Tour
We are having some great weather driving from covered bridge to covered bridge through PA Amish country on very lightly traveled roads. Dinner last night at Bube's Brewery was a hoot! Read about it. (https://www.bubesbrewery.com) If you look behind the group picture you can see the Susquehanna River, quite beautiful from that high elevation.

Re: Lancaster 356 Covered Bridge Tour
Thank you Mike. Anybody can put together an event like this without taking any financial risk and with far less effort than a Holiday. Events like this can be done any way that you wish without the need to satisfy the club management and their requirements. As an organizer, the satisfaction that makes it worthwhile comes as attendees graciously thank you for your efforts and the results of those efforts, fun, camaraderie. Please try it.Mike Wilson wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 11:39 pm Thanks for the pics, Cliff. Looks like a great turn out with excellent weather and scenery.

I believe it's Harry Cooper's Devin that he bought from Cliff. EDIT: I am wrong on this, see Martin's post below.

I think it’s a custom cabriolet . You can see the 356 door hinges etc in one picture, and the hardtop is pretty distinctive.

Re: Lancaster 356 Covered Bridge Tour
Harry's car was 100% built by him, design, metal, paint, mechanical, everything. It started as a 62 Notchback. The top was cut off and replaced with a factory electric sunroof hardtop. It has a 911 engine and transmission and rear suspension. It is somewhat patterned after an Abarth coupe. It features air conditioning and satellite radio and cruise control is planned. He has driven that car all over the country, tens of thousands of miles.

Great get-together, Cliff! Congrats.

Re: Lancaster 356 Covered Bridge Tour
Thanks everyone!
I was a bit embarrassed at the appreciation shown by the attendees. Actually they were the ones who really made the gathering a success. I didn't hear a single complaint because these people are just not the complaining kind. Everybody "just wanted to have fun". Many noted how beautifully kept the homes and farms of Lancaster County are. The beautiful flowers and neatly manicured lawns are framing neatly painted buildings. The Amish plowing their fields behind large teams of horses, the Amish traveling about in horse drawn buggies. We went to an Amish dairy farm where they sell the ice cream that they make on site. Some enjoyed a tour of a real working Amish farm. Some took a ride on the Strasburg Rail Road.
I am thinking about doing this again next year if anybody might be interested.
