1958 Speedster in Marfa Texas

#1 Post by John Pavone »

Spotted this really original looking 1958 Speedster in Marfa Texas earlier today. Looks like something you’d see in the late 70s when these were just cool old cars. Does anyone know who the owner is?

Looks like there was a carb fire on the left side.

Yep, definitely some sort of fire. That helped determine from a distance that the car was the real deal and not a fiberglass replica.

Reminds me of my Ruby Red Convertible D in similar condition. These are the fun ones. Maybe I need to make a road trip from New Braunfels to Marfa. Meet the local artists, see the Marfa lights!

Mark, if you decide to go send me a PM and I’ll get you the street address of where I saw the speedster. If you like great food make a reservation at Restaurant Cochineal. It’s a 5 star experience!

Hello Gentlemen,
It appears as though you were about to embark on a time consuming process of ascertaining who owns the red '58 Speedster based on the street address. I can save you some time and trouble. It belongs to me.

Well, you have a nice one. It’s been twenty years since I drove my Convertible D through there. If I happen that way again, I’ll make sure to say hi!

That was rather surreal.

Judging from google maps, it looks like there was a C coupe there in 2013!

That indeed looks a great restaurant. In of all places.

I also noticed the Marfa Holocaust and Model Ship Museum. Huh. Quite the renaissance burgh is Marfa.

I think it will surprise people that the elevation there is nearly 4800 ft ASL. The mountain only 13 miles NE is ~7000 ft, and Mt Livermore (24 miles NNW) is nearly 8400 ft.

Naw. One of those big old buzzards, and that removes paint......in Marfa that is art!
