I'm restoring Speedster #80416. Apparently the car is in the transition period between the blunt and point hood handles. I'm looking for wisdom.
Also, the rocker deco strip height is in question. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Blunt or point hood handle
If you have the Kardex or something that notes the date your car was completed you can estimate whether your car should have the blunt or pointed handle. The changeover was made in April of 1955.

The Kardex shows it was delivered March 21/55 so it's looking like it should have the blunt handle as suspected. I'm assuming the high rocker moulding also. Thanks

Here are a couple data points to consider: Speedster 80333 shipped 28 Feb 55, and Speedster 80439 shipped 28 Mar 55 - - - both originally had a pointed hood handle. While it is possible 80416 had a blunt hood handle, more likely it did not. The rocker molding was close to the door sill on #333, while the molding was lower on #439. Your question suggests #416's rocker panels have been replaced and there are no original holes for reference?

Hi Don,
Thanks for the terrific information as usual. #416's rockers were replaced in the 80's, and we replaced them yet again with more accurate parts.
The 80's restoration did have the mouldings positioned low.
Thanks again!
