Hardtop for roadster
Was there ever a hardtop made to fit roadsters?
Is one one currently available on the market?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Re: Hardtop for roadster
Hi Pascal-
Was there ever a hardtop made to fit roadsters?
Yes, I believe there were at least two manufactured back in the day; Meinhart in the EU and Plastikon in the US.
Is one one currently available on the market?
Not to my knowledge.

Only used. They pop up for sale occasionally. Adam wright has a container full of them. Make sure to buy a complete one with all the trim and seals as parts are hard to find.

Yes. I have photos in early 1960’s “Christophorous” magazines showing new roadsters with removable hard tod.
Never seems to have been popular though.

Re: Hardtop for roadster
Ed Pimm has one on his twin grill Roadster that he says is Factory, it's metal. I've had a couple of aftermarket ones. Astro was one such maker.
Now Cab hardtops, yeah, those are a plenty.

Re: Hardtop for roadster
I have had one for my roadster since 1966, but have only put it one one time. I have seen one other one on white twin grill about the same time frame in Silver Spring Md., that had just come over from Europe with a USAF pilot. I think they will fit any T-5 or T-6 roadster. The hard top is a pain to install, you have to remove the rag top frame and the Tonneau cover Tenax studs to get the body seal to set correctly. Does not have side windows like a cabriolet hardtop. Mine just hangs in the rafters, maybe my kids will use it. I never put the rag top up either. I have never seen a reason to have a convertible with the top up. Tonneau cover is plenty

Re: Hardtop for roadster
John, when I had my Roadster, I would raise the top each winter for a month or so while the car was parked in the garage to keep the fabric stretched, so if for some reason I really did need the top up it wasn't such a pain to raise. Otherwise, I was with you--why put the top up? Especially since the car then became a pain to see out of.

Nothing cozier than a fur top!
Is it more watertight than the soft top?

This is exactly the info I was looking for.
Did you have to remove the tonneau clips as mentioned in an earlier post in this thread?
