Re: New to the 356 Community
I took the advice and used the linseed oil! What a killer difference.
Let me show you how much fun I had to day via my key board... LHERFO:IUHYWILGJFHCVBLKH#@ILUGHFLJKHBDLKSBHNRDFLK:JHGLKJHEWP"JUI_{#UJ"{PO#$TIGHJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TODAY WAS AWESOME!!!! OMG SO RAD!!!
Not only did the owner come out but the wife did too and I drove them both together. Apparently the car survived an airplane crash. I took the info they gave me and I was able to find info on it, and it seems they remember it pretty well. https://www.newspapers.com/clip/7875818 ... othy-tate/ , https://www.facebook.com/hauntedupland/ ... cale=ms_MY
Video of stuff found in the car.

Great work Cameron. Now you have to give your loaner engine back and rebuild the original, get her back in and enjoy the car for many miles.

Re: New to the 356 Community
Sorta need a bushing in the decoupler.. right? There was one when I first drove the car, I guess it decided to retire. I replaced all the bushings and added new grease, and walla, there's 3rd gear and the shifts are tight. I am still going to drop the trans, it needs a good bath and new seals.
Thank you for all the thank you(s). I had a blast with this experience and thank you for everyone to help with their "2 cents"
The original the engine was stripped down, and Walt at Competition Engineering currently has it. The plan is to not oversize the case, and just drop in some 1720cc P's cand C's and see what cam he recommends.
I am super fortunate that Greg let me use his spare engine, THANK YOU GREG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: New to the 356 Community
I just dropped the trans, but there's some pitting on the rear axle cross tube. Is this okay? I am cleaning up the tubes as well.

Re: New to the 356 Community
Light pitting on the tube should not be a problem. It's pretty thick steel
