Mike
Are there any differences in the appearance between the E and T. They look pretty much the same to me.

Hi, Brett:

They look the same to me as well. Maybe internal differences? I can take more pics.

No that's okay. They didn't necessarily change things every year -- just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Frankfurts get very weird during the U/V/W period. Read all about it in the next magazine!

Maybe the series designations were based on production years? Looking forward to reading the article, Brett.

All the best,

Yes, codes are calendar years. New (actually old) code coming in the article. Amazing what we can accomplish by working together!

That's what is great about our 356 Community. Think about how much has been accomplished in info gathering due to the internet and the willingness to share that info.

Yes, but it is too bad that everybody isn't in the share mode. Let's see what happens next!

I think there are a lot of people willing to share info, experiences and expertise. There are still questions that will probably remain unanswered. I still watch the video, "Made By Hand" and wish for more shots of the builds. We have access to the Kardexes thanks to a few folks but what about the build sheets? Kudos to you and others for your articles and books that can be used for reference long after we've taken our last drives.

I can't fix the lack of availability of the purchase order books -- know they exist and copies were made. I don't have them. Wish I did...

After reading the latest Registry article today I went out in the garage and took a few pics of the Frankfurt E series from my '62 Coupe (completed Feb 1, 1962). My history with the car only goes back to 1971 so I can't say for certain that this was the original radio, but it appears likely. A radio was not listed on the Kardex. I have the black knobs and bezel around here somewhere...

U and V-code 1963 and 1964 also appear to be identical and are all transistor with white graphics and the FM band going the conventional way. W-code Frankfurts get adjusting rings, but they don't look like the ones on Kölns (se previous photos). The one on the left is a bass/treble control and the one on the right is decoration. From W-code (1965) through 1970 the FM band reverts to the wrong direction.

Hi Bret
Here are pics of my Radio from 65 C Coupe.
I believe it to be a Frankfurt but the sticker is partially gone.
Car was built 2-65.

That is a U (1963) or V (1964) Frankfurt US. All explained in the upcoming issue. I'm good on this era Frankfurts -- could use photos of earlier ones and/or lesser models and Kölns -- I'll start a new thread.
