Re: New to the 356 Community
I cleaned and lubed up the all the brakes and installed new wheel cylinders, now I am just waiting on the brake lines. The passenger side upper control arm is loose, I will need to figure how to tighten it up or just deal with it for the short drive. When I first felt it, it felt like a loose wheel bearing but it ended up being that upper arm.

Re: New to the 356 Community
I see you skipped the common mistake of putting the front cylinders in backwards. Very good!

Re: New to the 356 Community
It would be wise to check the steering coupler. On the 63 and earlier cars this is a VW part and turns to dust and cloth after 60 years. Probably the shift bushings in the tunnel have turned to dust also.

I was planning on giving the past owner a drive this weekend, but just found out that his Son and Daughter in law tested for Covid. Now it's a waiting game, and the anticipation is killing me.

Re: New to the 356 Community
Since I am waiting, I decided to tackle the electrical side of the car, there was a lot of corrosion, cut wires, and bad grounds but I did get a lot done today but there's still some issues. The left turn signal sometimes works, the right doesn't work at all. When the left turn signals are blinking and you hit the brake pedal the blinkers stop. For some reason none of the gauges are back lit when the headlight knob is pulled, which seems odd because I would think some would light up, must be a bad ground some where..

Re: New to the 356 Community
I haven't. I have been using an enlarged wiring diagram Greg gave me, it's that White thing that takes up a lot of the bonnet. Ill check out the books, thank you.
