1955 Continental coupe, build date April 19, 1955 per my Certificate of Production, original engine number per Kardex and confirmed by a letter from Porsche in 1988

I never had the original engine 33940 in my Continental coupe (early three-piece case 1500). Now that I think about it, since the car was titled by the engine number, not the VIN, when I bought it, the VIN did not have to be verified. Not sure what gyrations Bill Myers had to go through to title it in Wisconsin when there was nothing linking 33940 to the chassis.

Thanks Mike. Interesting distributor cap George. I assume that is for noise suppression for FM reception?

Hi James !! Expert eye, as usual. This is how I bought my original engine 8 years ago, rebuilt in 1980. I am in the process of putting back in my ‘55. So far, so good. Ran well on test stand last week. I will use all my correct Pre A items from my current engine when my car is delivered in the middle of the month. All in preparation for the 2023 Holiday !!
