for what its worth, most VW's that have duel reservoirs have a nice bracket spot welded to the under hood body easily removed. they also have the duel compartment reservoir tank. this makes a nice sanitary installation you will need to drill two small holes. you can also check out Cip1.com they have several brake reservoirs and mounting parts.

Does anyone have suggestions (ideally photos = 1,000 words) on how/where to mount a remote reservoir for a dual master cylinder on a T6 (mine's a 63 B) that allows access to bleed with a Motive Power Bleeder? Thanks!

I bought a dual cylinder from Al Zim and a VW bus fluid reservoir to fit it from Wolfsburg West. Easy Peasy. No issues, looks like it belongs.

Craig, check with the guys at deluxe customs in tempe. They made a bracket that fits perfectly under the steering box lid. It is a beautiful solution and no ugly reservoir mounted in the trunk.

I have a 59 cab and did not want to drill holes for the hoses to go through from the truck as it’s all original metal.

I mounted it below and drilled two mounting holes through the bulkhead. It’s a tight fit and I use a syringe to fill but I think it’s much cleaner and looked more original.

My Version - inspired by Ed - using a 1980's 911 brake cylinder, with simple fabricated bracket.

The deluxe version mounts with the stock screws that hold the steering box lid on. No additional holes needed and invisible with the lid installed. Very clean solution and easy to undo if so desired

Jules,
That's a clean installation that looks easy to install. Thanks for posting!

I thought so too, Rick. The only one that does not require new holes and perfectly invisible unless you start removing parts from the car

Jules, those guys at Deluxe have done it again. Beautifully engineered and executed. I need one...and the kit as well. I had a catastrophic brake failure years ago and documented it in the 356 Registry Technical and Restoration Guide (page 32) and it was no fun. I was VERY lucky.

Hello,

Thanks for that.
After a failure of the single brake circuit…
I have updated my 356A with a dual CSP 20.54 mm master cylinder using the Deluxe part for the mount. With their part i have used a ATE reservoir hidden in the steering box. Very clean installation.
Thanks a lot Jules for this info.
The brakes are now undoubtedly more safer and ready for CSP disc upgrade.

I tried mine several ways, and found the best is the reservoir mount right on top of the dual master cylinder. it should very seldom need servicing, and to check turn the steering wheel to the right and look in the left wheel opening. to fill or service is easy to do from the steering gear inspection cover. no hoses to leak no holes to drill its not up in the way of things.

We don't have a remote brake fluid reservoir on our dual circuit master cylinder system!
It sits directly on top of the master cylinder, it can't get knocked but does require removal of the steering box /coupling access panel and a long funnel to top up when required. Added by edit: I may have said before that replacing the hydraulic brake switch with a brake
lever actuated electrical switch is a good safety mod, as some of the replacement hydraulic switches can burst! Losing all the brake fluid Not Good !

Regards Jay
HI Jay, what Reservoir did you use? Do you have any pics?
