Looking for my Dad's 1965 356C
Hello all. I am a new member since 5/22.
While going through some of my Fathers paperwork files on his extensive car history, I came across the contract from the selling dealer for his 1965 Porsche 356C that he purchased brand new. He purchased the car new from Concours Motors in Milwaukee, WI on May 19th, 1965.
I was very young when he owned the car and only have one memory of my Father turning the corner, coming home from work one day in it. The car is long gone as he didn't keep cars very long. I was wondering if there was a way to track down the current owner of the car? I have the chassis ID listed on the contract. I have had no luck finding it. My Son who is in law enforcement couldn't find out any information on the car either using his resources.
My only goal is to see if the car is still around and on the road. I might even be a buyer if the car / situation was right. If nothing else, I would like to get the original paperwork to the current owner for their records.
Thanks for any help.

Mike,
It's good you have the chassis number, otherwise it would be very difficult to track down. You say you have searched for it, have you used the data base here on the Registry website and/or the data base on 356a.com?

Geeze... that was a quick reply. Thanks.
I believe I have tried everything I know.
It shows "No records in database".

Gotcha, but since we don't know what you've tried it might help if you list everything you've done. In case you have not, try contacting Bill Block as he kept a database for many years and I don't believe it matches up 100% with the others so he may have something on it.

+1 Bill Block may know something. It could be anywhere in the world or dead. My 1st went back to Germany, my 2nd was wrecked and parted out Vintage racing, and my late friend's Roadster sold to Switzerland.

I think that all of Bill Block’s records that he kept for the Registry have been loaded into the website Chassis Number History. https://porsche356registry.org/content. ... _id=579966

It does. It's only $4.95 for the report which is cheap if it gives you what you need. That said, I doubt it does anything that Mike's son in law enforcement could not get.Martin Benade wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 3:33 pm George, does that work with our old short serial numbers? Most things don’t
Mike: Contact my good friend Mike Loos in Milwaukee who owns O'Reilly Motorcars https://www.oreillymotors.com/
He repairs lots of Porsches and may have had the car in for service. If nothing else, he can get you in touch with the local 356 owners to see what they might know.

Re: Looking for my Dad's 1965 356C
that site does older cars, anything currently registered in the 50 states. Put in the number and before you spend any money, it will tell you if there is a record of the serial number. THEN it tells you in what state the car is registered and a brief history just like car fax. If you can find out the state, then you can hire a title clerk in that state to research and come up with the owners name. I found my original purchased new on my birthday 1984 911 cabriolet now in california, found the owners name, called him and sent him the original window sticker I still had. He was overjoyed!
